Have you ever wondered, “What is sustainable wine?” At Paloma Vineyard, it’s about crafting exceptional wines while caring for the planet, and our latest step forward is a major one: we’ve partnered with SolarCraft, an employee-owned company with 40 years of experience, to install a solar power system that now provides 90% of the energy used on our farm.
This move isn’t just about cutting down our carbon footprint—it’s about transparency and showing you exactly what goes into each bottle of wine you enjoy. By harnessing the sun’s energy, we’re not only reducing our environmental impact but also ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the Paloma tradition.
From our tasting room to our 15-acre vineyard to the careful aging of wine in oak barrels, our solar panels keep everything running smoothly, whether it’s cooling in the summer or heating in the winter. This means that every vintage of Paloma ages consistently, without interruption, and with a commitment to quality you can taste in every sip.
We’re also proud to partner with Amorim Cork, who shares our dedication to sustainability. Their natural corks help us capture even more carbon dioxide, making cork harvesting a sustainable practice. By choosing natural cork rather than a synthetic alternative we are sequestering CO2 through the very trees that grow the cork. By choosing these corks for our 2023 vintage, we sequestered 8.2 tons of CO2. It’s a small step with a big impact, and it’s choices like these that make a difference.
We believe in being open about the choices we make because we know that today’s decisions shape tomorrow. So, let’s raise a glass to SolarCraft, Amorim, and everyone who believes in making thoughtful, sustainable choices. This is what sustainable wine is all about—creating something beautiful and lasting with the help of our community and our environment. Cheers to a greener, brighter future for our next generation.
